Personalized Key Chains Are Stylish and Useful
Once upon a time, so the myth goes, keys were forced to hang loose. They were only necessary for jailers, and the average citizen did not have locks, much less keys. Many were so poor that they did not have possessions worth protecting, so having a key was not necessary. However, as wealth and prosperity increased, humankind began putting locks on everything from jewelry boxes to vaults filled with untold millions. As the wealth increased, the locks improved, and the keys, now necessary for everyone to have a set of, also became more complicated. Not to be outdone, the rings those keys hung from became ever more elaborate. Now we have personalized key chains every bit as unique as our locks, our homes, our lives, and ourselves.
A keychain was once nothing more than a piece of string or twine worn around the waist or neck of a man sanctioned by his kingdom to keep the unsavory element under lock and key. After that, there came literal chains for keeping the keys. Then the infamous iron rings carried by dungeon masters. Ultimately, after a multitude of iterations, this little ring has the capacity to carry masses of microchip technological might, as well as adornments that depict our deeper selves, our inner nature. It is quite a feat of evolution for something with such a banal task.
Key Rings today are not only about style, but also about function. They come in a multitude of colors with flashlights and screwdrivers, buttons and buzzers, functional prepaid phones, and grooming appliances. They broadcast radio signals to microchips within our cars and can deactivate our alarm systems remotely. They open doors and car trunks at the push of a button. They are marvelous marriages of technology and aesthetics that are both beautiful (or gruesome if you so desire) as well as capable of tasks that would dazzle whole tribes of African bushmen. They can say more about whom we are than can be read from our faces or our wallets.
Personalized Key Chains are remarkable insights into a person's psyche. If it is expensive, or tasteful, silly, or striking, hideous, or inspired, personal, or corporate, simple, or confounding it says a lot about their tastes. Much as a wallet or purse is a simple thing meant to fulfill a specific duty, they also become very personal, almost intimate. So, it is possible to gain an enormous amount of insight just by seeing what little trinket or mass of electronics they have dangling from their keys.
The keychain has come a long way through the years. As a people, we have spent enormous man-hours designing and constructing, building and refining these items to suit every need and personality, and we are not done yet. As technology continues to get ever smaller, personalized key chains only promise to get more confusing and ever more appealing. They will serve more functions with more odd and beautiful packaging to contain them; an amazing advancement from bits of twine.
