Starting Your Key Chain Collection
When you start a fun hobby, you become too engrossed with collecting too many items to add in your assortment of collected articles. You keep on looking for that chic design, that edgy item that is too difficult to look for and before you know it, the little compartment where you place your collections become to full to accommodate more items.
Such is the dilemma of a dedicated key chain hobbyist. How do you resolve such lack of space then? Simple, you make your own cool key ring holder that will house your tons upon tons of collected key chains. How do you precisely do it? Here’s the simple rundown:
First off, you have to prepare the things that you will need to construct your own unique key ring holder. You will be needing pieces of scrap wood, the size of which will depend on how big exactly you plan to build the key ring holder. You will also need finger hooks, water-based primer paint and latex craft paint, a foam brush and a small bristle brush that you can either buy through e-bay or at a local hardware store near you. To complete your things-to-use list, you need to have a handy permanent marker, a sixteen-gauge steel wire, a polyurethane spray, some needle nose pliers, and a drill and bit.
Once you have all the above-mentioned materials ready, the next step would be to paint the top and sides of the scrap wood base using the prime coat. Let it dry and then double-coat the primer with the hue that you like best. It is recommended that you use colors that will represent your personality so as to make the holder for your key rings a truly personalized item.
To put some ingenuity in the holder of key rings you’re making, it is suggested you paint the word “keys” on the upper part of the key ring holder using pencil line traces to make sure it stays above where the finger hooks will be screwed in. When the paint dries up, drill in two holes on the top of the wood piece to attach the wire hanger. Use the polyurethane to spray the front and back sides evenly, thus protecting the painted finishing touches.
When the finishing paint touches become dry, cut a small piece of wire and use the holes to insert the cut wire. To secure the hanger, coil each end around the key ring holder using the pair of pliers. Once you screw in the finger hooks, congratulate yourself for a job-well-done! You’ve just made one fine personalized holder for your keyrings.
